Types of Aromatherapy Products
Today the practice of aromatherapy is being utilized everywhere, from homes to day spas. It is easy to bring the therapeutic power of scent into your life thanks to the many different aromatherapy products on the market today. There is something for every application and preference. Scent can be diffused into the air, inhaled from a tissue or the bottle or applied to the bath or body in a carrier oil. There are fragrances for people, pets, homes and cars. In some cases a fragrance blend of numerous oils is used, in others only one essential oil is used depending on the end goal.
One type of product is straight essential oil. A popular manufacturer (but by no means the only one) is Aura Cacia. The oils are stored in small amber bottles and are very potent. Essential oils should never be applied to the skin without first being diluted in perfume base or carrier oil. Examples of carrier oils include jojoba, grapeseed, olive and apricot. Essential oils can be wafted under the nose from the bottle or a few drops applied to a tissue then inhaled. You may want to research which scents are for which purposes before shopping as some essential oils are on the pricey side.
Another way to use aromatherapy is by fragrancing your environment. This can be accomplished through scented candles or fragrance sprays. When buying scented candles, soy candles are usually the most highly concentrated and natural. One of the leading fragrance spray brands on the market today is Demeter. Their high quality Pick-Me-Up sprays can be sprayed into the air or on the body. A few examples of their unique true-to-life scents include Dirt, Rain and Baby Powder to name three of the many in their fragrance library.
One of the most stylish ways to use aromatherapy products in the home besides candles is through reed diffusers. Reed diffusers come with a decorative bottle and absorbent reeds that capture and release scent. The look is very modern and stylish when placed on a mantle or shelf. If you want a way to utilize aromatherapy without candles or a diffuser, try a light bulb ring. These ceramic rings fit on the standard light bulb and when you add a few drops of scent to the ring and turn the light on the heat from the bulb will release scent.
